Our country is filled with amazing people and spectacular locations. And for me, there is no better way to seek them out than from the saddle of a motorcycle. As everyone who rides a bike can attest, there is just something magical about floating over the tarmac on two wheels; providing a sense of freedom and adventure.
This channel is dedicated to those who share my passion for motorcycle travel. It is my way of sharing my experiences while traveling in my home town and across our great country. Hopefully, it will inspire you to get out and follow your own personal dreams and ambitions.

Dont use mint flavored toothpaste if you are going bear watchin'
Oh yeah 👍
Just you 'n the pygmy pony ridden along the borderline in Montana.
Soooooii gorgeous
How are road conditions? Nicely paved or potholed?
Nicely paved, but a bit wavey coming into town.
Don't feed the bears.
Try not to...
Hope the new rain gear is working out well for you.
It is indeed!
you look like i imagine Jon Bernthal will look like when he's older
I lived in Smithers for a couple years and that country is STUNNING! Not many options for food or places to stay in Hazelton.... LOL. Make sure you do the side detour down into the old section section across the one way bridge. For great Halibut in Prince Rupert, make sure you go eat at Smiles down on the waterfront. Its the best place for fish and chips. The 7 sisters are spectacular
Smiles sounds like a good place after my grizzly tour, I will be down there afterward.

Might be staying there buddy, what hotel and was it ok?
I stayed at the 28 Inn, it was fine, nothing fancy, but comfortable. There is another motel in town that looks ok from the outside, so check them both out. There is a beer store connected to the 28 inn, which means a lot of folks stopped to stock up. They did let me park the bike under cover.
@@LivingOffTheSlab thanks Buddy, comfortable is good enough, LoL. Enjoy your trip, safe riding.
Did you post your route and I missed it in your blogs OR videos
I have not posted the entire route, but going up the Cassier and home Alcan.
@@LivingOffTheSlab Ok Thanks would love to see the route you traveled from Mass to Alaska as I am your neighbor in NH and love to see how far you went each day
My Aunt and Uncle live there! Stunningly beautiful area.
Such a great topic. I am few years younger, will be 58 this year. I think about this subject a lot now and discuss with my fellow older riders. I am blessed with good health so far but we all know at some point that day will come. I have met a lot of former Enduro and MX riders who were famous in the 60s and 70s who now can't ride and its very sad that these guys were the pinnacle or riding abilities in their day. Hoping I can hang on to my passion of riding as long as possible. Thanks for the great video. GSJack
When in Prince Rupert, if you have the time, take the boat to the grizzly sanctuary. We were lucky enough to see a few bears including a mom and her cubs. We stayed at the Eagle Bluff B&B located right on the docks in 2013. It was nice the only problem was it stayed light till almost 2 (I know the sunsets earlier but it never really got dark) and it starts to get light at 5 which is when the fishers started their workday. It was one of the most memorable rides we have had.😊
Love your shirt
How's the bike treating you? Tiger doing well?
Yep doing good!
How long did it take you to plan this adventure?
I started sometime last summer and finished it in February and March. It was not continuous. I did it in spirts.
I can't ride 2 wheels due to balance issues, arthritis. The can am spyder rt, is comfy to ride, a wet clutch let's me shift without having to feather a clutch. 3 wheels gives me slightly more road presence. Crazy people are everywhere. You need to slow down but with the spyder, it gives me a sense of freedom.
Where is Goku?
This was a useful review. I could be way off, but the jacket strikes me as an armored and slightly heavier version of a gore-tex rain coat I had for years and never really liked so it's not grabbing me. I'm eyeing up the AD-1 pants sized to be pants, though. Not sized as over-pants, and in tan. I like grunge as much as the next guy, but not so much when it's attached to hi-viz. My Helite Turtle is high-viz and I also question the effectiveness. If the yellow running lights aren't enough, then I give up.
Craig, glad you are FINALLY taking a rest day! So, how is your seat cushion thingy and how is your Triumph performing ... any issues? Ned in SC
Seat cushion is working very well and the bike is also running great. No issues.
@@LivingOffTheSlab Excellent, thank you.
It depends.biden should NEVER get on a motorcycle.Trump could probably ride for years without a problem and they're around the same age.
So the reply just below this one is from 'finallyfifty'. I too am 66 years old and own a Honda Rebel 300. I am still working on getting my license! I am 5' 7" and weigh about 125 lbs. I also have COPD (emphysema). I attempted to take a 2 and a half day riding course twice now and was unable to finish both times. 10 years ago I would have had no issues! So I'm implementing PLAN 'B' ...Every morning between 5 and 6 A.M. I am getting on my bike to practice all the basics until I am comfortable enough to go and take the class 6 road exam. Just like 'finallyfifty' says: "Love the ride"! P.S. Really great content - just like you Bro!
Hilarious
can it hook to my speakers via bluetooth?
I did not try that, but in theory if you bike allows BT connection with an external player, it should work. But don't take my word as I did not try to do that.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Ok thanks
WHEN I AM DEAD!!!!!!!!!!! THEN I WILL THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MIGHT BE BURIED WITH MY HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is it that nice weather seems to coincide with a rest day? 😝
There is no particular age to stop riding. It’s an individual decision - possibly you may go to a lighter bike, but again it’s up to the individual
Buyer Beware! Piece of junk. No customer support, Fanttik customer service (or lack of) will NOT be there for you to fix, repair or exchange a new defective unit. Wish I knew before purchasing.
Enjoy !!
I live in the Uk and although our roads are certainly more crowded I believe it’s safer to ride here than in the states, mainly because getting a driving licence over here is a lot harder. I lived in Florida for 10 yrs and I couldn’t believe how easy it was to get a license. Young kids straight out of school can be racing around with no road experience at all. (I heard many stories of bikers getting T-boned in Florida by elderly people too). So the bottom line is to be always vigilant, -assume every other road user is about to do something stupid! And if you have an incident that you can only blame on yourself, think hard about that next ride… God Bless you all.
Great video! Motorcycles have been my passion for 55 years. I rode in the dirt for 10 years before getting my first street bike, a Yamaha RD350 which I tricked out and rode like my dirt bike, with several crashes and run-ins with the law. In 1984, I put the bike on the track and roadraced it for several years. I've had lots of track instruction over the years (racing and trackdays) and was pretty knowledgeable and successful at going fast. Fast forward to 2020 when I retired and went to the Smoky Mountains to ride the Tail of the Dragon and the other incredible roads down there. It was on that trip that I realized I was pretty good at going fast but my low-speed skills were terrible. After dropping my bike twice at walking speed, I started researching slow-speed exercises (U-turns, figure 8's, police training, etc.). Now at 71 years old and living in Arizona, I regularly go to the church parking lot near my house and practice my slow-speed skills. I've vastly improved my skills but still have a ways to go before I'm a "black belt" slow-speed rider. These skills have been particularly important since I recently bought my first adventure bike (still have my Ducati and GSXR 750). At 5'-5" tall with a 28-inch inseam, the slow-speed skills are critical. Fortunately, my overall riding skills don't appear to be significantly affected by my age (yet) but I've been weight training and doing cardio for 40+ years which helps tremendously. Prior to taking off on my ADV bike camping trips in AZ, I give my wife a map and copy of my itinerary, and she can track my location on her phone using "Find My Friends." Finally, I stay off the heavily travelled highways with bumper-to-bumper traffic going 80+ mph. I also stay out of downtown Phoenix where every week, a motorcyclist is killed by a car taking a left-hand turn in front of the bike.
Hey, Brother. Great videos. I've tried three times to make it from NC to Deadhorse. Covid, riding partner got sick, and last year, I was involved in an almost fatal hit & run in MT. That was the last three attempts. I'm trying for the fourth time in '25. I've always made reservations in advance. In '25 I'm thinking just winging it. Have you made reservations or playing it by ear? TIA
I have reservations. Just one less thing I have to worry about while traveling.
Why are you wearing a Shoei motorcycle helmet?
Because it fits, is comfortable and works. Too long a trip to go with something I don't have full confidence in.
To those that want to blame others....82% of motorcycle accidents are caused by the rider of the motorcycle.... Thank you
I'm so glad you have a decent day of weather.
I'm 76 and have been riding since I was 10. That is many years and I have ridden bikes all that time. From 125cc to 750cc. Currently riding a Royal Enfield 650 Int and happy with it. Just for general transportation and I do not really just ride around to burn gas. My hobbies are swimming, bicycling, 4x5 film photography, sketching and travel with my wife. We travel in the car or fly.
Ha😂
Good morning!
I didn't see you at our HOG Rally. It ended yesterday. I didn't get the knife again! I have two more days and leave for lower 48. Have fun and maybe see you.
I rode to the hotel and got out of the rain. Hope to see you on the road!
Enjoy the alcan! Take extra fuel and tires!!!
So beautiful... From France. ❤
My first bike was a Suzuki Boulevard 800. I hadn’t ridden bikes for years as I was fully involved flying hang gliders for 23 years. The Boulevard was a nice bike, a cruiser and I enjoyed it. However, I soon found on long rides I would get pain in my right hip. The other problem was it did not have ABS which is not a problem until you need ABS. I purchased a Suzuki VStrom 650 XT new in April 2018. I enjoyed my riding infinity more mainly because if my hip started to give me trouble, I could stand up and ride quite comfortably and safely. I turned 80 in March this year and I have nearly 58,000 km on the clock of my VStrom and I love it. Having the ability to stand up and ride for a few km will keep me riding for a long time yet. This is just my experience, but I believe an adventure bike that will enable one to stand up and ride safely, will keep the older rider in the saddle much longer. And for what it is worth ABS in an emergency can be a life saver.
I'm loading up my rv headed to alsksa now

Master roshi?
Master Roshi, is that you?
You’ve been pushing it and the stretch from McBride to Prince George is very uninspiring at the best of times let alone in the rain and there’s a lot off Moose out there and when they are wet they are black so morph with the highway. Very much Moose country until you get to Houston. That whole area around PG is very swampy, hence swamp donkeys and they are big up there. A buddy of mine hit one last fall on his bike and lived to tell the tale and I’ve veered through pairs of them on a couple of occasions. They get all ticked up and just start running and the bush isn’t too far off the highway in places.
I was looking today, but did not see anything, which is good.
@@LivingOffTheSlab When you see the Moose signs it really means that in that particular area Moose mishaps have occurred in the past, you’ll see lots of signs west of PG. Bulls usually travel by themselves but Cows run in pairs and with young ones. Early morning and early in evening is now 8:30 PM is when they are moving. I was forced off the road once by a ticked up Moose at an angle when slowing down into a town once, so they don’t always take straight across. I’ve also drove around one time in my half ton totally asleep standing in the middle of the highway steam coming off of this Bull like some prehistoric creature at - 40 below. They graze on the highway licking salt off the highway, very massive and extremely stupid erratic beasts.
A lot of miles Craig in the last week so a well deserved break!
